KONY 2012

Hi all

I thought I would include a link to a video. This video you might have seen posted on Facebook or advertised on other social network sites. It is about a man that I have never heard of before, but someone the world will probably be hearing about a lot more about in the next few years. He is from Uganda, and has abducted thousands upon thousands of children and forced them to be child soldiers for rebels, or into sex slaves. He has no clear agenda. He just wants power.

The aim is to cause a huge, huge media campaign about him to make him famous for his actions against humanity, forcing the American government, and others, to take decisive action and get this man arrested and tried for his crimes. It’s a great idea and a huge collective spirit to stop this horrendous man. It is probably the biggest man hunt ever (after Osamba Bin Laden), but I admire the people who have started this global campaign. For once, governments will have to listen to the masses to do something right for a change. There will be a date that people, who have got involved, have to plaster walls around their city with posters of Joseph Kony’s face. I think it is mainly US based but have a look at the link if you haven’t done so already –http://vimeo.com/37119711 – and see if you can get involved. Kony’s face is below.

About Nicholas Rogers

I am an English journalist/copywriter living in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and I have been here since 2011. I originally came to work with Casa Alianza, which supports street kids and vulnerable youths. I then stayed on, after meeting Pamela Cruz Lozano, who calls me her adopted Catracho. I work freelance journalism and I have my own translation business. Why did I come here? For the challenge, to open my mind and get out of my comfort zone. I love literature and I've written a book with street kids. I write novels, short stories and poetry, all of which you will find on this blog, as well as a lot of information about Honduras. View all posts by Nicholas Rogers
